About The Boulder Innovation Center

HISTORY

The Boulder Innovation Center grew from the realization of local business leaders that Boulder needed to actively support new and growing local companies. These innovators recognized that Boulder contains all the ingredients for success: top product and scientific talent, entrepreneurial business building skills, financial resources, and strong leadership.

In 2005 Doug Collier led the effort to form the Boulder Innovation Center. Through Doug’s work the organization secured funding from public and private sources, created a Board of Directors, admitted its first clients and recruited advisors to guide clients to success. Our distinguished pool of advisors drew from volunteers from well-known companies such as White Wave, Celestial Seasonings, Horizon Organic, Level 3, and Ball Aerospace. Additional support for the Boulder Innovation Center came from numerous local entrepreneurs who generously volunteered their time and knowledge to advise the Boulder Innovation Center’s clients. During this period, the Boulder Innovation Center established relationships with Boulder’s venture capital funds, angel investors, attorneys, accountants, and consultants all with a long history of helping grow companies.

In the fall of 2007, Tim Bour became the Boulder Innovation Center’s latest Executive Director. Under his leadership, the Boulder Innovation Center has evolved to handle a larger number of clients, support growth and development in more areas of industry, secure new sources of funding and expand the number of commericalization partners.

The Boulder Innovation Center continues to serve as the organization that ties all of the entrepreneurial resources of Boulder together. The Boulder Innovation Center meets the needs of first time entrepreneurs, business leaders, investors, and seasoned veterans looking for a new project or wanting to give back to the local community.
