Tim Bour
Executive Director

Before taking the helm of BIC in August of 2007, Tim Bour successfully grew or developed business and sales, generating and managing finances in excess of $100 million dollars. Most recently, Tim was Executive Vice President of Engineering and Manufacturing at Circle Graphics, the leading manufacturer of wide format digital printers for the outdoor advertising market. As founder and CEO of Cielo Communications, 1997 to 2001, Tim not only secured over $45 million in capital, he did this while overseeing the development of the first gigabit optical transceiver used by Cisco Systems. Tim spent thirteen years at Hewlett Packard where he worked as marketing manager for the fiber optics components business, during that time; sales grew from $20 million to an astounding $200 million annually. Tim was an Ernst and Young Finalist “Entrepreneur of the Year” in the Rocky Mountain Region in June 1999 for his work at Cielo Communications. Tim holds a BS in Chemical Engineering (magna cum laude) from University of Cincinnati and an MBA from Ohio State University.

Ken Altshuler
Program Manager

Ken joins the BIC with experience in intellectual property and patent strategy, R&D engineering, international product transfer and program management. Ken came to the Boulder area in 1995 to develop an R&D lab at Seagate Corp after running a similar R&D lab at Read-Rite Corp in the Silicon Valley. While at Seagate, some of his accomplishments included founding an advanced R&D head/media group, starting and managing an international product transfer failure analysis team, and functioning in a program management capacity. Ken spent a year at UCSD between 2002 and 2003 as a visiting scholar in the Center for Magnetic Recording. After passing the patent bar, Ken left the disk drive industry to help entrepreneurs and small companies develop their respective patent portfolios and strategies. Ken comes to the BIC while functioning as the director of patent intellectual property at Spectra Logic Corp. Ken holds a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Vermont and is registered to practice patent law in front of the United States Patent & Trademark Office.

Bill Capsalis
Program Manager

Bill is founder of MarkEnomics LLC - a strategic business consulting firm located in Boulder, Colorado. Bill has consulted with small to mid-sized companies on a range of business topics – mostly around the areas of marketing and strategic communications.
He is also an accomplished professional keynote speaker, meeting facilitator and communications expert and is represented by Brooks International Speakers Bureau in Denver.
Bill recently served as the Agency Director at The Fresh Ideas Group – the pre-eminent public relations firm in the LOHAS / Natural & Organic Industry. In his position at FIG, Bill was responsible for new biz development, client service, Agency management and directional strategy. All of FIG’s clients are national in scope and have products or services in the LOHAS sector.
Prior to working with FIG Bill was co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of OurHouse, a consumer cleaning products company, that sold a line of environmentally preferable cleaning products for the home.
Bill held the position of EVP of GAIAM (nasdaq: GAIA) Inc. – a Broomfield Colorado based healthy lifestyle products company. While at GAIAM Bill helped create and define the LOHAS industry (Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability) and assisted the company in its IPO. Bill is widely recognized as an expert on the LOHAS consumer market.
Prior to GAIAM he spent 12 years as the VP of Marketing for Kinko's, helping to make the brand a household word. Bill became an expert in retail consumer marketing strategies, promotions and strategic partnering opportunities and was a national spokesperson for the company. Kinko’s grew to a billion dollars in sales in the 12 years Bill spent with the company.
He has lived in Boulder Colorado since 1984, is married and has two kids – one out of college and one still in. Besides trying to stay fit, Bill also plays music professionally in several bands in the Denver Boulder area.

Eric Gricus
Program Manager & Client Development

Eric has had a variety of work experiences in the small business and entrepreneurial worlds. Prior to, and while attending the University of Colorado as an undergrad, Eric operated several successful service businesses. After graduation, Eric co-founded and developed a company which sold fuel cells and hydrogen energy products through a variety of channels. Right before entering the MBA program at the University of Colorado, Eric was a member of the management team that transformed the culture and restored the economic viability of an exclusive resort located in Ward, Colorado. During his MBA studies, Eric focused on both Entrepreneurship and Marketing and gained real world experience at CTEK, a local business incubator that specialized in Angel funding. He also worked for the University of Colorado’s Technology Transfer Office, where he completed feasibility studies for a variety of different technologies and advised others who were ready to meet the local business community.
Since his graduation from the MBA Program, Eric has worked as a consultant assisting local start-ups with market feasibility assessments, marketing plans, business concept refinement and planning, business strategy formulation and investor pitch preparation. Eric works with the Boulder Innovation Center to provide similar services to the local entrepreneurial community. At the Boulder Innovation Center, Eric oversees the admissions process for early stage companies, works with faculty research teams, prepares companies for their financing efforts and manages the placement service for local early stage companies looking to hire C-Level talent.

Warren Mauter
Program Manager

Warren is an experienced executive with over 20 years of international management and consulting experience gained while working with established medical technology and material science companies.   A cornerstone of his career has been the development and execution of strategic initiatives … technology assessment, acquisition/divesture, strategic partnerships and licensing.  Working with both Fortune 500 companies and smaller venture financed start-ups he has been part of numerous projects ranging from $4-$350 MM.  
Working in organizations that include Gambro AB, Boston Consulting and Manville Corp, he has held leadership positions in research, business development, operations and regulatory compliance.  Warren holds degrees in Chemistry, Material Science Engineering and an MBA from the University of Colorado. He is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Program.
